Help launch Serenity (sorta)

Similarly to other pods on the station, when NASA attaches the upcoming Node 3 to the ISS space station, they plan to name it, similar to Node 1’s “Unity” and Node 2’s “Harmony.”

Well, in an effort similar to that of the first Space Shuttle (Enterprise, named after Captain Kirk’s famous starship) us sci-fi nerds are trying to get a space-faring vehicle named after one of our favorite fictional space vehicles – Serenity.

There’s currently a vote going on at NASA’s web site – so go get your vote in, the poll’s only open until the 20th!

Did you hear? That asswipe Stephen Colbert (of Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report”)
did a segent asking everyone to write in suggesting it be named… “Colbert”

It won. Beat Serenity by about 40k votes.

Yeah, I heard. It wasn’t an “official” choice though, so between that, and the way it got the win (celebrity endorsement), I highly doubt NASA will actually use it.

Good. John Stewart is funny a lot of the time (when he remembers that he’s not actually a real news talk show host), but Colbert annoys the crap out of me.

They should send Adam Baldwin over there to smack him around a bit 🙂
